Dear Readers,
Today I will begin a series of articles concerning a rather thorny and very complex matter with so many myths to dispel: esotericism. The first article will be about our limited perception of reality.
Our Limited Perception of Reality
Man perceives the world around him thanks to his physical senses. But if we pay a little attention we will observe that not everything that surrounds us is recorded or perceived by our senses.
Let's take a quick look at the empty space between the book and us, what do we see?, surely many will say nothing!, however we know that scientifically this is not certain in any way. In that apparently empty space, there is a multitude of shapes, more or less subtle. There are grains of dust and some mites, this only in the air which, although invisible to the eye, is always present in the atmosphere. But there's even more, there are thousands and thousands of radio and television waves, plus millions of mobile phone conversations.
Look at this!, the empty space looks very congested with wave traffic. But if we also want to delve a little further, we will be aware that the atoms that form the particles of oxygen, for example, vibrate or better to say, rotate incessantly inside its nucleus, the electrons and protons around the neutron, and this movement produces a fine friction which in turn produces various ultrasounds that our hearing is unable to perceive. If we continue to investigate, deepening different dimensions, very soon we will enter the extrasensory field, where thoughts, emotions, forces and surrounds them. Then we distinctly look around us, nothing is invisible thoughts, emotions, forces and lives will occupy their place in the time and space that surrounds us. really what it seems to be, but much more is hidden from us, so that we only perceive what a priori or at first sight would seem to exist.
We know the world through our Five Senses, and if one of them is faulty, our knowledge of the world around us varies even more.
We all know these 5 senses:
SIGHT: This sense allows us to perceive, see a certain range of chromatic vibrations.
HEARING: It allows us to hear a limited range of sound frequencies.
THE TOUCH: Related to the sensitivity of the skin.
THE TASTE: It puts us in relation with a limited scale of flavours.
SMELL: This sense is much more developed in animals than in humans. It is a sense little used to the detriment of others.
"Our Physical senses are like windows open to the outside world that allow the Inhabitant to see a small portion of Reality". Beyond this fraction, we find other deeper and truer "Realities", be they chemical, atomic or spiritual, of which our Five Senses, by themselves, know nothing...
C. Jinarajadasa, in his book "Foundations of Theosophy" gives a good and clear exposition of what we are considering the senses and their perception. In this way: Consider, for example, our knowledge of the world by the faculty of sight. What do we mean by seeing an object? It means that our eyes respond to the vibrations of light emitted by the prospectus of the object and that our consciousness translates them into ideas of shape and colour. Obviously we only see the part in front of us , never the whole including the sides and back. This ability to see is therefore due to the Waves of Light to which our eyes they answer. But what, after all, is the Light? Replying to this question we will immediately see how small the Visible part of the World is and how big the Invisible -.
fig.1. shows us the main phenomena of light. The light is one
vibration in the ether, and according to its amplitude and frequency it is the Color it produces. The Light that we know comes from the sun which emits great beams of vibrations (electromagnetic radiation) of different types to which we call White Light. But if we pass a ray of white light through a glass prism, the particles of this are divided into its constituent vibrations. These vibrations perceived by the retina of the eye are interpreted by our brain as colours. The basic colors that our eyes see are seven:
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.
Which with its nuances and combinations make up the range of colors of the world we live in. But the colors we see are not all those that exist. Normal human beings evidently see neither infrared nor ultraviolet, for example. These two colors have always existed, whether we were aware of them or not. Therefore we might ask ourselves: How many more colors are there that I can't perceive? What wonders am I missing?.
This simple observation already shows us that our perception of reality is limited and inexact. Our sense of hearing is also limited: there are very high-pitched and very low sounds that we cannot hear. Sound is propagated by aerial vibrations, of which the lowest note of an ordinary organ produces 32 vibrations per second (frequency) and the highest C 4.224. Our hearing responds to sounds whose number of waves fluctuate between these two extremes, but there are sounds of lower and higher frequency, although we cannot hear them when they occur around us.
Gradually we begin to understand that we live in a world of Illusion that bears little resemblance to reality. Certainly we seem to see many stars in the sky, but who knows many of them disappeared thousands of years ago, even if its light still continues traveling through space.
On the other hand, it seems to us that our body is solid, but science tells us that all the really solid matter it contains can be contained in a thimble. Such is exactly the fundamental principle of clairvoyance.
We are surrounded by many types of vibrations to which human beings in general cannot respond. He is blind, unconscious, to a part of the universe, willing to reveal itself to him if he is able to respond to his vibrations. But the Clairvoyant answers yes and therefore he Sees more of the real world than someone who is not. Obviously not all clairvoyants are equal in responding to the invisible world: some see little and others a lot; some acquire a clear concept of what they see and others confused and incoherent. But the principle of clairvoyance is exactly the same as with ordinary vision. We do not yet know what special development of the nerves and brain centers is required to respond to the vibrations of the invisible world, but tomorrow's science will tell us,
My eye sees the paper on which I write this and simultaneously my something, (I don't know what to call it) sees the invisible world that is above, below, around and across the paper, the table and the room. This world is luminous, and it seems that each point of this space has its own light source, different from that of the physical world. All its space is in full movement; but it suggests in a confused and indescribable way the idea of the Fourth Dimension." All its space is in full movement; but it suggests in a confused and indescribable way the idea of the Fourth Dimension." All its space is in full movement; but it suggests in a confused and indescribable way the idea of the Fourth Dimension."
Esoteric Science teaches us that there are Seven Planes in special relationship with man and the Solar system, and each individual and each entity has some phase of his life in them. There are different ways of expressing the different states of matter and energy in words. Depending on the esoteric school, religion or belief, these different levels can be described as: Planes, Dimensions, Layers, Realms, Levels, Worlds, Regions, etc. We prefer to use the definition of Planes or Worlds, and it is important to understand that when we refer to said "Planes" or see them reproduced in diagrams, schemes or drawings, they are in no way to be taken as maps or superimposed realities, since the need to represent the planes as "Layers", when in fact they INTER-PENETRATE, and to describe the physical location of things which exist only in etheric or mental matter, it is impossible to make a precise graphic illustration. But as a suggestive compendium of reality, the diagrams are of great value to those who use them correctly.
