Manage your vision with the CHUNKING UP and CHUNKING DOWN method

 Dear readers and friends,

Today we will introduce a very interesting concept: Manage your vision with the CHUNKING method UP and CHUNKING DOWN

As in every Life Coaching context we are examining, there are only small explanations and many questions. Finding these answers is our task, discovering ourselves to then improve ourselves and loving ourselves for who we are is the ultimate goal. As has already been said in several articles:

“A question at the right time can change your life or at least the vision you have of it.”

Once again I ask you not to substitute an expert for this article, if you need help there are the structures and personnel suitable for this purpose, contact them.

When you are working on a project, an obstacle in your path or simply change your lifestyle, it is often necessary to delve deeper into the problem or stop to get bogged down in the details and take a broader view. And this is where the "Chunking Up and Chunking Down" method it is very useful.

The term "chunking up" refers to moving from specific ideas or information and on small scale to ideas or information more large and general. 'Chunking down' takes us from the big picture up to the details.

If we need to visualize how an entire project will look once completed, then we need a broad overview. Big projects are three-dimensional. They require vision and they also require execution, which it means an overview, and then workflows that go from that vision to the different areas of execution.

I know you will have the broadest vision of the project and then chunk down details to build and carry out the various steps until the goal is achieved final: the project as it was imagined.

Those who prefer to dig deeper into details and pay less attention to big pictures are sometimes considered inferior thinkers to visionaries, but success requires both. The difference lies in the styles of thinking.

Obviously, as with almost all coaching approaches to a problem, there are some questions that stimulate us to find our way, without which we would be always at the mercy of our thoughts without achieving our goal.

We are we who live life or is it life that lives us?

When we ask ourselves detailed questions and move towards the general picture, it is we need to examine what is important to us. When we identify what our purpose is, we can build our motivation.

Chunking Up Questions

This type of questions help us examine our beliefs, to identify what is important to us and to clarify our vision in the "big picture". wider."

  •    For what purpose?
  •    What does achieving this result give you?
  •    What is it important to you in...?
  •    What is that part of..?
  •    Qual is this an example of...?
  •    What did you learn?

Chunking Down Questions

These types of questions help people explore details and identify information specifications.

  •     Qual Is this an example of this?
  •     What is it a component of that…?
  •     Who/where/what in particular?

When we we respond or stop ourselves from doing something with responses like: "I want do it... but I can't because...". This is the right time to delve deeper and ask for more details. Pay attention to the "but", as they usually come before a limiting belief.

You might ask yourself:

  •     What will it stop me...?
  •     Who or what prevents me?
  •     As Do they stop me specifically?
  •     Qual is this an example of this…?

In summary

The questions chunking up are useful and allow us:

  •  to understand better the big picture: the entire context of problem, decision or goal.
  • Identify ours values that are the basis of our motivation that guides us towards a specific goal or behavior.
  • They help us think more strategically, which is an essential skill.

Reflecting on your most important values helps you identify the right course of action, increases your sense of self-efficacy (the belief in your ability to achieve goals) and reduces stress.

The questions chunking down we could use them to:

  •    Find the root of our problem
  •    To complete any information missing
  •    Identify specific objectives that we would like to set ourselves
  •   Find ways specifics where value could be realized in practice

It's worth remembering that this can also be a challenging exercise, since every answer that there let's give may lead to a further question. This process helps to achieve clarity, but we must be careful not to stress ourselves too much.
