Shamanism: the numerous benefits of Sacred Plants (part 2)

Dear readers and friends,                                 Articolo originale in OlisticaMente Kokoro

Today I present the second part of the article on the sacred herbs of shamanism, even this very interesting article has its own reason. Find out for yourself.

Shamanism is the oldest form of healing, which balances body and soul in its deepest form of connection with the cosmos.

The Cachimbo is the famous peace pipe (or  Calumet della Pace ) used to smoke Tobacco, a beautiful plant with fragrant flowers, considered sacred by the native populations of North and South America. The Pipe was sacred and respected, only the fact of lighting it put in contact with the spirits of the ancestors, with Mother Earth and with the whole Universe. It is used to celebrate the most important rituals of the community, to consecrate them and never for simple pleasure.

The Rapè is a powdered blend of sacred Tobacco and other herbs and medicinal plants It is blown into the nostrils and acts directly on the pineal gland. At the level of the physical body, it cleanses the respiratory system and purifies the nasal cavities of atmospheric pollution. It is therefore useful in case of sinusitis, rhinitis, congestion. It is suitable for headaches and for relaxing the mind after a long day of mental work. In fact it relaxes and calms the thought, freeing the inner silence. On an energy level, it balances male and female energies, giving a feeling of harmony and serenity.

The San Pedro is a cactus that grows at high altitudes and is used by different groups in Peru and Bolivia. It represents the male Spirit of the Mountains. Its effects on the body and psyche are multiple: it purifies, harmonizes, illuminates, brings love, harmony and light. It sharpens hearing, making the people who use it more aware and perceptive: sounds, smells, flavors are accentuated. Thus it allows you to be more connected to the vastness of the Universe and to see life with a different perspective. It helps to understand who you are and what your purpose in life is. This particular drink has helped to cure various physical ailments, as well as emotional and psychological problems.

The Kambò is a frog native to the Amazon. By extension it also refers to the substance taken from its skin and the medicine that is created with it. It's actually a poison, so whoever uses it is actually poisoned. Kambò is the strongest natural antibiotic and anesthetic so far known in the world and it is also the strongest natural medicine to boost the immune system. This is why it is considered a real vaccine. It prevents the onset of pathological disorders and significantly increases resistance to fatigue and concentration. It is useful not only for sick people, but also for healthy ones. The immediate effect for those who use it is that of a deep physical (vomiting, mucus, feces) and emotional cleansing. However, it does not remove the origin of emotional blocks deriving from traumatic experiences, the root of the problem remains. To remove deep emotional blocks there is another Sacred Medicine used by the inhabitants of Gabon: the Tabernanthe Iboga. Kambò is not a medicinal herb or plant but the poison of a frog.

The blueberry is a very common plant with bluish berries, it is rich in vitamin C and is often used for its antidiarrheal and astringent power. It is an excellent antioxidant, lowers cholesterol and normalizes blood pressure. The juice made from its berries can be used to fight urinary tract infections. The anthocyanins contained in it allow it to be counted among the anticancer foods.

Hypericum, also known as St. John's wort, is a plant that has been used for centuries to treat various ailments, including for example burns, wounds and various types of skin diseases. It helps stimulate the immune system, has a bactericidal and fungicidal action and helps improve problems such as headaches, bronchitis and colds. It can be taken in the form of an infusion.

The Plantain is among the ancient herbs that promote positive energy. It removes stress and migraine and is among the best shamanic plants capable of rebalancing mind and body. It has expectorant properties that make it useful in case of colds and flu, but it also acts as an anti-inflammatory, against constipation and as an emollient for the intestines.

Shamanic Magical Use: This is the plant of the Land of the Dead. Its shamanic uses are manifold. First, you can get to enjoy a certain amount of invisibility for a short period of time. Second, it can be used to talk to ancestors, or to find one's way back.

Spearmint or St. Peter's Wort: With a pleasant and strong scent, this plant has the advantage of fighting digestive system disorders. Taken on an empty stomach, in the morning, it brings significant benefits in case of headaches. It also works in case of palpitations and nervousness. Fights colds and flu and acts as a repellent. Not suitable during pregnancy.

Valerian: Several times we found ourselves talking about valerian and its power, capable of calming the mind and body. It is a natural sedative, which regulates the nervous system, calms anxiety, anguish, intestinal colic, and lowers blood pressure. Valerian can also be used to make an infusion against neuralgia , by adding it to orange peel and blossom.

Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), Shamanic Magical Use: A pillow stuffed with mugwort will produce prophetic dreams. Mugwort is burned during divination rituals, and an infusion of mugwort and honey is drunk before each divination. The brew is also used to wash crystal balls and magic mirrors, and mugwort leaves are placed around the base of the ball, or under it, to aid in psychic healing.

Burning artemisia produces a very important purification effect, both for the body and for one's sacred space. Often, therefore, it is produced in the form of incense.

Watercress (Nasturtium officinale), Shamanic Magical Use: This is the plant of the Land of Water, Ice and mists. It is one of the two primordial worlds. If you place it under your tongue, you will notice that it is spicy, and that it burns a little. One can breathe through this plant, see the breath come out as mist. You have to keep breathing, working with the spirit of the plant, until reality starts to blur a bit. This will not happen because watercress is psychoactive, but only thanks to the work of the spirit evoked by the plant. It allows you to locate the problem that needs to be changed, as if it were a solid object. One can imagine reaching out and touching it. If your fingers slip off it, then, it can't be changed. Otherwise, you will be able to do this and drive him away from you. The breath work will become longer and more time consuming when the object cannot be manipulated. Sometimes nothing might change, but other times, things might start to change. If three attempts fail, however, you should give up.

Blue Viper (Echium vulgare), Shamanic Magical Use: This is the plant of the Land of Giants and Trolls. It is a land of great mountains, great storms, great beasts, and great hunters, and this is the grass that hunts disease. To use it, you need to energize the roots with a spell, preferably with a background melody. Music gives praise and thanks to this plant for its great hunting ability. Then you eat the herb, as it is or in tea, and wait for it to work.
