TREATMENT OF ADDICTIONS WITH ACUPRESSURE (Alcohol, Smoking, Food)

 Dear readers and friends,

Today I propose another article of the series on traditional Chinese medicine, in particular on acupressure; addressing various more or less common pathologies. This wonderful technique used correctly could give relief to many diseases caused by our incorrect way of living in this modern society. In this article we will talk about addictions, unfortunately very widespread pathologies in our modern society.  For a more conscious use and to follow the topic more easily I recommend you read the first of the past articles.  Acupressure: Meridians, treatments and precautions .

The term “addiction” refers to an alteration in behavior characterized by the abnormal and excessive search for substances or activities that is maintained despite evidence that these are harmful.  The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) works to prevent and combat these addictions, contributing to the knowledge of the phenomena from an epidemiological point of view, to the optimization of diagnosis and treatment paths and to the improvement of socio-educational interventions, through specific sectors of research, control, supervision, information, training and consultancy. It also carries out counseling activities through the Green Telephone on addictions and doping and offers support for improving the quality of performance of the pharmacotoxicology laboratories of the National Health Service (SSN).  In particular, tobacco consumption is one of the major risk factors in the development of tumor, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Another emerging phenomenon is the intake of nicotine through new-generation tobacco products and electronic cigarettes. Alcohol is the first substance capable of causing addiction with a high social impact. Drug addiction today is represented by the phenomenon of taking multiple classic substances of abuse, including alcohol and new psychoactive substances.  Gambling disorder, food addiction and internet addiction are behavioral addictions that, in addition to causing discomfort and/or clinically significant disorders, constitute a public health problem of growing importance with a high impact on daily life.

The Marrow produced by the Kidneys flows into the brain. Thinking ability is stronger when Qi and blood are abundant in the cerebral cortex. With the increase in thinking ability, a circle of light develops within the body. The innate intelligence of the individual is represented by the intensity of light.

The kidneys are the seat of the body's will. They control short-term memory and store data. The kidneys provide the ability and drive to endure and work hard. An individual with strong kidneys can work hard and productively for long periods of time. Consequently, when the kidney is in a disharmonious condition, the individual may be prone to overwork and compulsive habits. An individual with a weak kidney will suffer from lack of endurance and strength.

The positive emotional attributes of the kidneys are wisdom, rationality, clear perception, kindness and self-understanding. The negative ones are fear, insecurity and loneliness.
