Stomach Meridian - Zu Yang Ming
Function: The stomach handles the first stage of processing food and liquids when they are ingested. Together with the spleen, it is responsible for the production and diffusion of the post-natal Jing linked to nourishment. Its purpose is to transform the ingested food into nutritious Qi (Gu Qi) to then be collected by the spleen to be transported to the Heart.
This digestive process is possible thanks to the organic maceration carried out by the strong humidity present in the stomach. This is why it is said that the stomach loves moisture while the spleen loves dryness. The direction taken by the stomach meridian is to run downwards. If this function does not occur, there will be symptoms such as vomiting, continuous belching, hiccups. The Stomach Meridian deals with: Food intake - nourishment, esophagus, duodenum, ovaries, appetite, breastfeeding, fetility, rooting.
Emotions: Criticism, Contentment, Doubt

STOMACH 36 FOR GENERAL HEALTH
Clinical experience has shown that the Stomach 36 acupuncture point is among the most important for maintaining optimal health. Stimulating this point at least once a week will produce important results.
Stomach 36 is the most widely used acupuncture point due to its powerful effects and wide range of applications. Among other things, it is the preferred treatment point for strengthening the immune system.
Acupuncture point: Stomach 36 (ST36)
Chinese name: Zu San Li
Meaning in English: Li leg three
Element: Earth
Location: Stomach 36 is located about four finger widths below the kneecap on the outside of the leg, in the depression between the tibia and the tibialis anterior muscle.
The Stomach 36 point is a lower He-sea point, where the Qi enters at a deeper level in the meridian to communicate with the corresponding organ (the stomach). It is also a Sea of Water and Grain point, known to have a strong effect on systems tied to it; the Stomach 36 point in fact has direct effects on appetite and digestion.
Also, it is the command point for the abdomen. Command points are known for the powerful and wide-ranging effects they have on the regions of the body associated with them; they are traditionally used to treat imbalances of any origin, both acute and chronic. The Stomach 36 point is therefore considered the strongest point along the Stomach meridian.
Stomach point 36 offers a variety of benefits that support a natural balance:
Invigorates the entire meridian
Relieves pain and swelling
Harmonizes the stomach
Regulate the spleen
It supports, regulates and strengthens Qi
It revives the Yang and nourishes the Yin at the same time
Since Earth is the mother of Metal in the five element theory, ST36 will slightly support lung function
From a biological point of view, the stomach is part of the digestive system that receives, decomposes and digests food by extracting nutrients and energy and extracts unusable waste products. The chemical breakdown of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates begins in the stomach, where the useful products are sent to the spleen to be converted into Qi and blood while the by-products are sent to the small intestine . Acupuncturists have traditionally used Stomach 36 to treat the following conditions: knee and leg pain, shin pain, abdominal pain and distension, allergies, asthma, chest pain, cough , digestive system, indigestion, vomiting, dizziness, fever, high blood pressure, seizures, reproductive system problems and general weakness.
