PRACTICAL HERBALISTICS: CURES FOR DEPRESSION

Dear readers and friends,                                 Articolo in italiano su OlisticaMente Kokoro

Today I present to you a very important article especially in this period: CURE FOR DEPRESSION, very useful in defeating this pathology that afflicts a large part of the world's population.

We will see some herbal remedies that work but as always, before getting self-diagnosis and do-it-yourself treatments, it is always better to go to a doctor.

When the results of a therapy based on medicinal plants should be disappointing, resort, without hesitation, to synthetic medicines that your trusted doctor will recommend.

DEPRESSION: Generic term which defines "a condition of profound sadness which assumes, in the most serious forms, the characteristics of a psychotic disorder". Often the depressive phenomena are characterized by moral pain, feelings of devaluation of one's own person and of others, often feelings of anguish and anxiety prevail . There are various types and degrees of depression and, consequently, various ways of treating it. In Natural Medicine good results are obtained, basically, in cases of mild and moderate depression. I will mention some of the symptoms most commonly found in the depressive state:

General symptoms

• sad mood and "sense of inner emptiness"

• lack of pleasure in common activities, including sex

• drop in energy, tiredness and sense of "slowing down", i.e. the need for longer recovery times than in the past

• sense of guilt and worthlessness (loss of prestige), low self-esteem

• thoughts of death and, in severe cases, of suicide and/or suicide attempts

• fits of tears

• sleep disorders; eating disorders (weight loss, anorexia, weight gain)

• chronic aches and pains resistant to any treatment

In the workplace

• poor collaboration with colleagues

• absenteeism

• poor concentration, cause of accidents

• constant complaints of tiredness

• problems of moral relaxation

In mild and moderate depressions: Hypericum TM: (whole plant) (antidepressant) 30 drops, 3 times a day, after meals. Sequoia gigantea (young shoots) MG: (general stimulant) 40-50 drops, once a day.

In elderly people, it may be useful to associate for short periods with Sequoia gigantea: TM:  Ginseng (roots) (tonic-stimulant) 20 drops 1-2 times a day, depending on individual response. The treatment should be performed in cycles of 2-4 weeks, repeatable as needed, after adequate breaks.

Lavender TM: Lavender can give good results especially in women, it is advisable to take it in a dose of 40-50 gtt. per day. Even the essential oil of Lavender burned in the diffusers used in aromatherapy has anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties.

Coriandrum TM: Coriander is also an excellent antidepressant. It will be used above all in men as a sexual stimulant. To be taken in doses of 40-50 drops. per day.

Eleutherococcus senticosus (roots) TM: (adaptogen-tonic stimulator) 20-50 drops per day for a period of 10-20 days. To be taken preferably in the morning.

Before concluding once again I strongly advise not to undertake any treatment without the assistance of authorized personnel.
