St. John's Wort oil extract

Today I present to you an article of practical herbal medicine, very useful as a home first aid which can be used for various cases and which I always recommend to keep at least one bottle in your natural pharmacy: St. John's Wort oil extract.

St. John's wort is a common plant in fields and along roadsides and is very easy to recognize. But for those who don't have the time or the sure knowledge of the plant, they can buy Hypericum flowers in herbal medicine. St. John's wort oil extract is very useful in a home pharmacy due to the multiplicity of its action.

Method

Weigh 200 g of fresh inflorescences, picked early in the morning and place them in a wide-mouthed glass jar with 1 liter of almond or sesame oil. Close the jar tightly and expose it to the sun for at least a week. After this period it can be seen that the oil has taken on a strong red colour. Filter as we have already indicated and divide into small 100 or 200 ml dark glass bottles. 

To be used in case of

Various dermatoses, acne, in dry skin, in skin with redness, in sores, in burns, in hemorrhoids, as a massage oil for small joint and muscle pains, as an antiseptic in small wounds, for applications on the chest in case of colds,  etc. The only precaution is not to expose yourself to the sun immediately after use in the case of people with very fair skin.
