Acupressure: Meridians, treatments and expedients
Acupressure: The Lung Meridian - Shou Tai yin - (Fei)
Large Intestine Meridian - Shou Yang Ming -
Large intestine function: Basically the function of the large intestine consists in the evacuation of impure substances from the body. In this last phase the intestinal waste products from the previous elaborations pass in order to be evacuated as faeces.
The same physical function also has repercussions on a psychological level. The large intestine is closely linked to the ability to let go of the past. If this does not occur or is not adequately overcome, disorders such as hemorrhoids and rectal prolapse can occur. While physically the disorders of the large intestine are attributable to the malfunction determined by the previous organic transformations operated by other organs and viscera. For example if the small intestine does not perform properly its work as a separator between solids and liquids evacuation problems may occur. Or if the lung (its associated organ) does not diffuse Qi properly then constipation problems may occur. Therefore the problems that lead to the involvement of the large intestine are: Hemorrhoids, Constipation, Prolapse of the anus and Diarrhea
Emotional aspects
The correlation of the large intestine with the lungs makes them similarly affected by the emotions of sadness, pain and worry . An energy imbalance in the large intestine can result in physical discomfort and emotional withdrawal, accompanied by feelings of depression , irritability, discouragement , anguish and apathy .
