HOW TO DETERMINE WHICH AREAS OF YOUR LIFE ARE YOUR PRIORITY (EXERCISE)

Dear readers and friends.                                                                           Articolo originale

Today I present to you another very interesting life coaching article:  HOW TO ESTABLISH WHICH AREAS OF YOUR LIFE ARE YOUR PRIORITY. Like all the works I have published, this one also requires sincere introspection, a slightly greater commitment to carry out an exercise that is nothing more than a series of questions. Finding  these answers is our task, discovering ourselves to then improve ourselves and loving ourselves for who we are is the ultimate goal. As has already been said in several articles:

“A question at the right time can change your life or at least the vision you have of it.”

And once again I ask you not to substitute an expert for this article, if you need help there are the structures and personnel suitable for this purpose.

How can we balance the most important areas of our lives and still achieve our primary goals?

It is important to decide what areas of our lives are important. It is critical to maintain this perspective as we strive to improve one area of our lives without turning our backs on all other areas .

There are three important questions we can ask ourselves before moving full steam ahead with anything that requires a significant amount of our time or energy. Regardless of whether this goal is an accomplishment, an acquisition, or even a new intimate relationship, ask yourself these following three questions:

• What impact might pursuing this goal have on my time?

• What else might be affected by my divided attention if I engage in this pursuit?

• How does this effort compliment (or detract from) my greater vision for life?

While this may seem a little sadistic, this line of self-inquiry can be extremely clarifying because, if we don't commit to pursuing our life's greatest vision , we may end up compromising our standards on a daily basis.

This is why our fundamental priorities deserve regular and habitual consideration whenever we are about to devote time and energy to new research.

AREAS OF IMPORTANCE

There are some areas of life that are important to all of us. These are mainly:

• Social and family relationships

• Career and educational aspirations

• Money and personal finances

• Physical health, recreation and free time

• Routine life responsibilities

• Giving back to society and contributing

• Mental, emotional and spiritual health

The importance that people place on certain areas of their lives will always be different. However, if we can establish and maintain an element of mindfulness in all areas of our lives, we will be more likely to achieve this healthy balance in life. When we define these areas of importance, we create awareness within ourselves of which areas of our life need improvement as we take a huge step towards achieving greater balance in life or the way we live it.

“The point is that life is about balance. Good and evil. The ups and downs. The pina and the colada.” — Ellen DeGeneres

We may recognize someone with a “healthy” balanced life through their actual prioritization of work and lifestyle habits. “Work” includes career, education and personal ambitions, while “lifestyle” includes health, pleasure, leisure, relationships and commitment to personal growth. None of us are perfect and none of us will ever achieve complete fulfillment in all areas of life all of the time. However, it is possible to establish a healthy balance.

Achieving and maintaining a healthy life balance can be a lifelong process.

This process will often take shape through the strategies and interventions we use to manage challenges that arise in the context of our daily lives.

Consider the major choices you have made throughout your life to date, especially those that have brought you true satisfaction.

In retrospect, consider the opportunity cost of any investment you made (focus, time, money, or energy) that turned out to be unexpectedly high.

Of course, not every choice we make will fully support our greatest life vision every time. But more choices help us become more balanced, fulfilled and happy. The more balanced we become, the clearer we will be about which opportunities are worth our best efforts and which opportunities are worth ignoring altogether.

It can become very easy to "overload" in life due to the constant pressures and demands placed on us. The following exercise will allow you to gain a balanced overview of your life as a whole. Upon completion, you will be able to clearly identify any specific areas of your life that urgently need improvement!

A few years ago I learned that nothing is ever as chaotic as it seems. Nothing is worth diminishing our health or poisoning ourselves in the pit of worry and stress. KAIN RAMSAY

We can always choose how to use our time. When we become entrenched in anxiety-based patterns of thinking and behavior, we tend not to look outside our boxes. Unless something shakes us, we can often fail to recognize even the most practical options available to us. We all have different interpretations of work-life balance but, in principle, we all share a similar idea of what it means: having a satisfying amount of time available to do the things we are passionate about outside of a work environment . This could mean time spent with family, time dedicated to self-improvement, or even improving our body's fitness .

We will approach your life (and the topic of life balance) in a structured and balanced way during this exercise. It will encourage you to break down your life into seven different areas so you can clearly identify the specific areas of your life that are currently out of balance. These areas of your life are most likely causing you the greatest degree of anxiety and preventing you from making the kind of progress you want in life.

Many of us can become "overloaded" in life due to the demands associated with our work and home life. This overload comes as we try to manage and maintain our relationships, physical health, finances, routine responsibilities, and even provide service to our local communities.

The questionnaire below is designed to give you a balanced overview of all the most important areas of your life. Once you're done, you'll be able to identify the specific areas of your life where you really want to make changes.

“Grow with discipline. Balancing intuition with rigor. Innovate around the core. Don't embrace the status quo. Find new ways of seeing. Never expect a silver bullet. Get your hands dirty. She listens with empathy and overcommunicates with transparency. Tell your story, refusing to let others define you. Use authentic experiences to inspire. Stick to your values, they are your foundation. Make the hard choices; It's how you execute that matters. Be decisive in times of crisis. Be agile. Find truth in trials and lessons in mistakes. Be responsible for what you see, hear, and do." —Howard Schultz

Work through the questions and rate your answers from 1 to 10 by circling the number that seems right to you, be instinctive and don't torment yourself.

GENERAL LIFE ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS

1) Summarize what your ideal life would be like.

2) What are the main challenges (or difficulties) you are facing in bringing your life back into balance?

3) What areas of your life are working really well for you at the moment? (e.g. family, work, fitness, etc.)

4) What immediate changes do you need to make your life more balanced?

5) What words might other people use to describe you (in relation to how balanced you are)?

“Success is a terrible teacher in life. It seduces intelligent people into believing that they cannot lose. -Bill Gates

FINAL EXERCISE

To conclude this series of exercises, write a personal vision statement for each of the seven areas of your life.

A personal vision statement is just a “best case scenario” description of what you would like to achieve or accomplish in each of the major areas of your life. Whatever you write down as your vision statements can become goals you can commit to working on over the next 6 to 12 months.

VISION STATEMENT 1: Social and family relationships

VISION STATEMENT 2: Career and Educational Aspirations

VISION STATEMENT 3: Money and Personal Finances

VISION STATEMENT 4: Health, recreation and leisure

VISION STATEMENT 5: The routine responsibilities of life

VISION STATEMENT 6: Contribution and giving back

VISION STATEMENT 7: Mental, emotional and spiritual life

In summary

Look for the results we set up at the beginning of this workbook. Are you closer to them now? Or have they changed?

Define what success means to you

Understand what areas of your life are most important

State the greatest vision you have for your life

It is important to remember that life balance is an ongoing process and not just a means to an end. Life balance is more than simply stating that “you want something to happen,” but more about stating the specifics of what you are ABOUT TO MAKE HAPPEN!

Unless you define the specific goals you have for each of the major areas of your life, the chances of you achieving these goals will always be somewhat limited. Hopefully by now you have set some goals for yourself that are meaningful, meaningful, and will improve the quality of your life and others once you put in the effort to achieve them. So, the question I leave you with is: Which of your seven major areas of your life will you bring back into balance first?
